How do I get dental implants

Four steps

After you’ve seen your dentist, getting dental implants is a four-step process involving consultation, implant insertion, final impressions, and the final prosthetic placement.

1. Consultation

You’ll meet Dr Nathan Lewis at Smile:Design. He will carefully assess your situation and advise you as to the best path to take. 

2. Placing the implant

The dental implant is surgically inserted in the jawbone below the gum line. You can choose which form of sedation will keep you comfortable during the procedure, whether it’s a local anaesthetic or another form of sedation. The procedure lasts an hour or two per implant. Note that this is done by a surgeon.

3. Taking the impression

After three to six months, your implant has fused with the bone. It’s now ready for a permanent crown or bridgework.  We take the impression to accurately record the implant position and soft tissue profile so the fit of the final restoration can be as good as possible

4. Fitting the final restoration

Dr Nathan Lewis will then fit the implant restoration ensuring it’s the best we can do aesthetically!
